EXPLORING NATURE AS SCIENTISTS
The Department of Biological and Environmental Science offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs. Undergraduate programs encompass biological sciences, environmental sciences, wildlife conservation science and teacher certification. Our graduate studies include Master of Science degree in biology, certificates in environmental science and a fully online Master of Science degree in biological sciences. If you're intrigued by the inner workings of the world around you, take a deeper look into our programs.

PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS
An MBA degree will offer you the opportunity to:
- Build marketable skills related to accounting, finance, management and marketing tools and techniques.
- Learn to apply analytical and strategic leadership solutions to an interrelated set of economic, ethical and environmental issues.
- Conduct research using quantitative skills, develop creative solutions to real-world business problems.
- Gain an understanding of the social, ethical, regulatory, global, political and cultural environments within which multinationals operate.
- Develop soft skills in addition to traditional business acumen.

Accounting gives you the ability to achieve competency in internal control systems, managerial accounting, income tax accounting, financial accounting and not-for-profit accounting. Our combination of educational and real-world application creates an active and engaging learning experience that offers access to faculty whose collective expertise spans all major areas of economics and finance. As a result, graduates are well-positioned to transition quickly when internship and job opportunities present themselves.

Accordion

Curriculum
The accounting program at East Texas A&M is uniquely designed to prepare you for a successful career and, more importantly, life! Over 100 years, this program has evolved and developed with the long-term success of our graduates in mind. You will not only learn critical analytical skills, you will learn how to communicate through financial data as well. Accounting is the backbone of business. It is vitally important for companies and small businesses alike to have accountants to keep records organized, back up tax returns and help guide financial decision making. An accounting degree from East Texas A&M University will prepare you to sit for the CPA and CFA exams and open the door to careers in public accounting.
Your first year you will take a combination of university core and business core classes. All students must take these classes, and they are a very important part of your business education. Many students take mostly core classes with one or two courses related to their major each semester.

Explore Our Programs
Accounting (BBA)
This program provides you with the ability to achieve competency in internal control systems, managerial accounting, income tax accounting, financial accounting and not-for-profit accounting. Graduates pursue careers in public accounting, governmental accounting and managerial accounting.
Finance (BBA)
The BBA in Finance program will give you tangible and market-demanded skills related to capital management, investment and portfolio management, financial institutions, and personal finance. Graduates pursue careers in banking, financial analysis, corporate finance and personal financial planning.
Accounting (MSA)
The Master of Science in Accounting is designed for those who want to specialize in accounting at the graduate level. It is a good choice whether you choose to build on your undergraduate accounting major or have a limited or no accounting background. The MSA is excellent preparation if you are planning a career in public accounting, industry or government.
Finance (MSF)
The Master of Science in Finance program will give you a solid understanding of finance theory as well as the practical applications of theory to real-world problems. When you graduate, you will be prepared to meet the financial, managerial and global economic challenges of the 21st century and beyond.
Graduate Certificates
Auditing and Forensic Accounting Graduate Certificate
The graduate certificate in Auditing and Forensic Accounting will equip students to gain certifications offered by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). The twelve semester hours (4 courses) of coursework is eligible to meet requirements for the Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) program should a student wish to pursue it. ACCT 527 & ACCT 562 are in the core curriculum and the remaining courses would meet electives for the MSA.
Tax Accounting Graduate Certificate
The Tax Accounting Graduate Certificate is a 12 semester hour (4 course) program. The certificate may be applied to the Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) program with two of the courses ACCT 538 & ACCT 540 required as part of the core and advanced core.

Estimated Cost of Attendance
The cost of attendance (COA) budgets at East Texas A&M vary with enrollment status, housing arrangements and personal lifestyles. COA is considered estimates (actual amounts for each student may vary). COA is used in the process to determine financial need.
Standard student COA budgets are prepared each year and reported to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). COA budgets are used in determining a student’s financial need. Budgets are constructed for students living on-campus and off-campus. Each standard expense budget includes cost components defined by law.
Cost components that may be included in the standard student COA budgets
- Tuition and fees normally assessed a student carrying the same academic workload. This component includes costs of rental or purchase of equipment (including equipment for instruction by telecommunications), materials or supplies required of all students in the same course of study.
- Allowance for books, supplies, transportation and miscellaneous personal expenses. This component can include a reasonable amount for the documented rental or purchase of a personal computer.
- Allowance for room and board. The living on campus allowance is the average costs associated with on-campus housing and the various meal plans available.
- Allowance for costs expected to be incurred for dependent care. Students incurring the costs of dependent care in order to attend classes can submit documentation of such expenses from the day care provider.
- Allowance for the one-time direct costs of obtaining a first professional license or certificate for students who are enrolled in a program that requires such professional licensure or certification. This component is a one-time allowance. Examples for allowable costs are fees charged to take a licensing exam and costs of applying for and obtaining the license or certification. The costs must be incurred during (not after) a period of enrollment.
- Allowance for study abroad programs approved for credit including reasonable costs associated with the study abroad program.
- For a disabled student, an allowance for expenses related to the student’s disability. Such expenses include special services, personal assistance, transportation, equipment and supplies that are reasonably incurred and are not paid for by other agencies.
- For students engaged in a work experience through a cooperative education program, an allowance for reasonable costs associated with such employment.
- For students receiving loans, the loan fees required to receive the loans. Loan fees associated with private educational loans can be included only if the fees are charged during the period of enrollment for which the loan is intended.
- For on-line courses, the COA includes the costs of tuition and fees, books and supplies, if not already included in the cost of enrollment. If there is a required period of residential training, the COA can also include an allowance for travel and an allowance for room-and-board costs specifically incurred for the period of residential training.
Adjustments to components of the COA over and above those indicated will need to be documented and explained in full before any adjustment can be made.
